Kinja'd!!!

My cousin’s husband is doing some spring cleaning. It looks like I need to rent a trailer. Among all of the stuff he wants gone is a late 70s Honda CB 550.

For free. With a title. Sure, it hasn’t run in 15 years but it’s a Honda. Rebuild and sync the carbs, some fresh gas and you’re golden!

I is excited!

I hate you.

And by hate, I mean I am incredibly jealous.

Flush the tank with pure ethanol (dry gas) it’ll clear out all the crud. If the tank is rusted there a coating products available. Replace all rubber lines and the other things you mentioned and you are good to go.

Just like the trikes. I’m not a fan of those coating products though. I’m already debating between Cafe bike or a stone stock restoration. I’m leaning toward the latter.

Luck is a funny thing.

In my life one stroke of luck is typically followed by several negatives. I tend to celebrate my victories and roll the failures off my back as best I can.

It’s seriously tempting. I have to get it home before making a decision.

Sell? I’m not familiar with this word. Is this where I go on Craigslist and get lowballers offering ten cents on the dollar?

I brought a 1974 CL175 out of a similar slumber 9 years parked with all fluids. I used a tank coating in 1992 it is still in great shape.

I could have been more specific. That pic isn’t the actual machine. The one I’m getting has been under a tarp, in a garage for 15 or more years.

Damn, sounds like a nice score. I don’t ride, but if I did this would be about the perfect bike for me. I say keep it stock (or close to it).
